Jedynak’s love of the broadcasting and marketing industries started at the age of 20 when he was flown to Chicago after being selected by ABC to appear on the popular local morning show “Kennedy & Company.” In 1972, he was featured – and captured the limelight – alongside top personalities of the time, such as Bob Crane of “Hogan’s Heroes” and Bob Denver and Jim Backus of “Gilligan’s Island.” Jedynak was a natural with his warm voice, solid humor and impeccable professionalism. And so it began …
Starting at WDJD radio in Michigan, Jedynak quickly became general manager of one of the first “all-talk” radio stations in the U.S. During this time, his booming, yet friendly voice broadcasted live from a Gemini Spacecraft trainer, to honor the 10th anniversary of landing on the moon, and he was interviewed on the “Larry King Radio Show.”
For the following 10 years, Jedynak served as chief meteorologist for NBC and CBS affiliates throughout Michigan and Texas. While in Texas, Jedynak, who would never settle for the status quo, helped direct the now famous “storm chasers,” a well organized group of tornado chasers, from his broadcasting office.
During his spare time, he co-wrote, produced and promoted a country music video that not only made it to national television play, but became the battle cry for a community wide enhancement project, “Put the Falls Back in Wichita Falls”. A town, who’s namesake was a little misleading, actually came together to reconstruct a flowing waterfall and the name came alive again.
In 1992, it was time for Jedynak to escape the tornados, and sunny Southern California beckoned. This constant innovator decided to get on the other side of the camera, forming a video production company with 2 other locals, called Musical Pictures. Jedynak’s experience in front of the camera provided him with a unique perspective on what worked well for video production and allowed him to experiment beyond traditional scripts. For example, his production efforts on “Winning Can be Fun,” the story of supercross racing great Jeremy McGrath, helped their company win a prestigious TELLY Award. Jedynak also provided the Voice Over narration.
Concurrently, Jedynak became a sports anchor at San Diego’s XTRA Sports Radio. As one of the original members of the “Loose Cannons” show with television industry icon Chet Forte of ABC Monday Night Football fame and Steve Hartman, known for his work on Fox Sports Radio, Jedynak was instrumental in the beginnings of “all-sports” radio. Blossoming from this same group of sports talent was contentious, yet colorful Jim Rome, and national Fox Morning Show co-host, Brian Kilmeade.
During this time, Jedynak also traveled the southwest as an interviewer for ESPN’s Motoworld, fed interviews to the Atlanta Braves local pre-game TV show and supplied NBC Radio Network with sports reports from SoCal. His viewers and listeners trusted him and were eager to tune in.
Ready for his next challenge, in 1997, helped create The Window Factory and began working to find ways to make windows and home improvement attractive and appealing. Besides becoming the well-known “voice” of The Window Factory across radio waves countywide, Jedynak developed strategic international excitement with the company’s House Armor™ security window product line. He dared the media and public to test the product with bowling balls, hockey pucks, softballs and karate kicks, leading to featured segments on HGTV’s “I Want That!” and TLC’s “Flip that House,” as well as numerous local TV stations.
The Window Factory quickly became the leading vinyl window and patio door manufacturer in San Diego County, and orders began to stream in from around the world for the House Armor™ product!
Always one to keep busy, Jedynak continued to be seen and heard on multimedia platforms, including hosting Southern California’s “The Home Show” radio show and emceeing events, such as a segment of the Mickey Thompson racing event at Qualcomm Stadium. He is always ready to serve as an advocate for any quality product, service or organization. As well, he has served as a field producer for the Discovery Channel’s “Gimme Shelter.”
Whether it’s being in front of the camera or mic, developing marketing strategies for a company or emceeing an entertainment function, Jedynak is a seasoned and effective talent that is sure to keep the buzz a-buzzing.
